“Action Required for Your Amazon.com Order” Scam Email

Amazon delivery scam email

This very official looking Amazon email scam states there has been a “shipment issue” and asks you to click on the link in the email to log into your account. The email subject will likely include, “Action Required for Your Amazon.com Order.”

WHAT TO DO:

  1. Don’t ever click on a link before checking the sender’s email address first to check that it’s legitimate. Looking at arrow 1 in the image, you’ll see this email does not come from @amazon.com. It comes from @infrmrb2b.de. You may receive an email from another address, but if it doesn’t come from @amazon.com, it is a scam.
This is your first and most important clue to spotting an email scam.
  2. When hovering my mouse over the yellow button that says “My Amazon Account”, you’ll see the link doesn’t take you to Amazon.com, it goes to srilakshmisolusys.in (see arrow 2), which will take you to a fake website.
    • If you don’t have a mouse, you should be able to press and hold your finger over the yellow button until the link address pops up.
  3. Whenever in doubt, go directly to Amazon.com yourself (without clicking the link) and log in. Email scams rely on official looking emails to fool you. Use the two steps above to avoid being scammed or defrauded.

The sender of this scam email is hoping you’ll click on the link so they can steal your Amazon account’s login details as a starting point. But now you’re smarter than that because you have tools to help you identify email scams. Congratulations!
